| Executive Council Update ~ United Professors of Marin 3/28/2011 (update) |
|
At a special meeting of the College of Marin Board of Trustees, the New Tentative Agreement was unanimously approved (6-0-0; Barbara Dolan absent). As per the agreement, the next pay period (April) should reflect the new salary schedule and within 60 days the new benefit rates should go into effect (according to the District, new health cards will be issued). If you have any problems do not hesitate to let the Union know and we will work to correct them. A full and complete version of the 2010-13 Collective Bargaining Agreement will be distributed by the employer as soon as the new language can be integrated with the existing document and will be available on our web site as well. --UPM Executive Council (3/22/2011) New Tentative Agreement Accept: 92% Reject: 8% The count is based on 99 votes. This is half of the turnout for the vote on the original Tentative Agreement, but nearly twice the number for regular mail ballots. The Board of Trustees will hold a special meeting this week at which they are expected to ratify the NTA. This is now the beginning. We cannot wait until re-openers next year or bargaining for a new contract in two years to initiate changes. Those of you who were able to attend one of the 14 Special Membership meetings in the last month heard the presentation by Dan Martin. Dan is funded by a CFT grant and is working with UPM on membership involvement, political action and community outreach. Thanks to all who volunteered to be part of a core group to get things moving. Everyone else—you will also be participating and more details will be forthcoming. --UPM Executive Council |
